Significant Building Maintenance Improvements

In addition to lowering a data center’s environmental impact, Fox Architects’ Green Data Center design also reduces operations and maintenance costs.
For a recent Green Data Center project, Fox Architects designed a roof system to house the facility’s 40 condensers. This unique design placed the condensers directly above the areas they serve. This design reduced by 75% the amount of piping necessary to connect the cooling systems while avoiding any roof penetrations over the server floor.

For example, our design that isolated servers to the data center floor while locating power, cooling and other mechanical systems in a separate area allowed maintenance crews easier direct access to service and maintain equipment.
